Alana Forrest began her 29-year public service career in 1983 at the Palo Alto Police Department, where she rose through the ranks to Lieutenant. Ms. Forrest promoted to the position of Captain by joining the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department in 2000. In her 12 years with Los Gatos/Monte Sereno, Ms. Forrest specialized in tactical operations, collaborative leadership, community engagement, policy and performance management.
Ms. Forrest retired from public service in 2012 to pursue security-related specialty work in the high tech and entertainment industries. Ms. Forrest has provided expertise for large scale events and numerous film premieres and award shows. Ms. Forrest served as the Director of Safety and Security at Pixar Animation Studios from 2013-2017, where she oversaw safety programs, physical security and special events for the 22-acre Pixar campus. She was the Director of Global Physical Security for North America at Oracle, and provided managerial expertise in corporate physical security strategies, training, organizational development and supply chain risk assessments. During her time at Intuit as the Director of Global Safety and Security at Intuit, she led all aspects of safety and security for 30 sites in 10 countries.
Ms. Forrest has an MA in Education, a BS in Criminal Justice, and holds a Private Investigator’s License. She is a graduate of several outstanding leadership programs including LAPD Leadership, FBI National Academy, and the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University.
Based on a strong value of volunteerism, Ms. Forrest has served in executive positions for three non-profit boards. Ms. Forrest co-founded the California Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Symposium, which began as a local partnership and is now an international organization endorsed by multiple law enforcement associations, and enjoys a national following. She is currently on the board of the Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Foundation.
Ms. Forrest is the recipient of the Champion of Peace Award for her work with Domestic Violence and the California POST Investigative Excellence Award for her oversight of a Los Gatos homicide case. She was also selected as a recipient of the YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry, an award which recognizes executive women who reflect the innovation, creativity, and excellence in Silicon Valley.
A former Ironman triathlete, Ms. Forrest also enjoys life-long learning, mentoring, anything athletic, gardening, fine dining and travel. Ms. Forrest and her wife, Melissa, live in San Jose with their two beloved dogs, Piper and Tucker.
